Return to Hockey 2021-2022 Season
2021-09-18
Important season start up information including COVID-19 protocols.
Thank you for your patience and understanding over the past 19 months as we have all adapted to the realities and challenges of hockey during a pandemic. The Frontenac Fury Girls’ Hockey Executive and all team staff are all volunteers who juggled constantly changing protocols and circumstances while managing their own families, work and other obligations outside of hockey. We appreciate your ongoing support.
While we expect the 2021-2022 season to be “more normal” than last, the season will continue to look different from what we are used to. As we prepare for the new season, we still await some further direction from the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association (OWHA) which governs the Fury. Practices will begin next week (see below). We await more information about game play which we hope will resume in October.
Many of the same safety protocols will remain in effect including pre-screening, signing in, hand hygiene, masks, and physical distancing. New for this year are proof of vaccination requirements for some players and spectators at Frontenac Community Arena and as per the OWHA. Please review updated COVID-19 Information on our website including safety protocols, vaccination requirements, Frontenac Arena protocols and some frequently asked questions. Please note this information will continue to be updated as required and could change without notice.
Here is some additional season start up information:
Free Fury Skate: Free skate for registered players and families on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2021. Please visit the website for more information.
Practices: Scheduled ice times will remain consistent for the duration of the season, and are as follows (please note Sunday timings may be adjusted when game play resumes): U9/U11 Tuesdays 5-6 p.m. & Sundays 3:30-4:30 p.m.; U13 (Peewee) Thursdays 5-6 p.m. & Sundays 4:30-5:30 p.m.; U15 (Bantam) Wednesdays 5-6 p.m. & Sundays 5:30-6:30 p.m.; U18 (Midget) Wednesdays 6-7 p.m. & Sundays 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Team Assignments: Bench staff will be assigned shortly. You will hear directly from team coaches and managers soon. We will be asking for parent/guardians volunteers to assist with COVID-19 screening on an occasional basis to help share the load. More details will come from your team manager soon.
Payment: Please note that players are not confirmed registered until payment has been made. Once again, the fury is offering a staggered payment option of four payments ($131.25 due September 1, 2021, $131.25 due October 1, 2021, $131.25 November 1, 2021 and $131.25 due December 1, 2021). Your September payment must be received in cash or cheque BEFORE your player attends their first practice next week. To help make things easier for families, Fury volunteers will be at next week’s on-ice practices to collect payments as you sign in. If you are having difficulty making a payment, please discuss this with the Registrar.
We are excited to return to hockey and our home rink following some wonderful renovations! If you have any questions, please reach out to a member of the Executive until team assignments are complete.
See you at the rink soon!
