First Shift registration now open

2021-06-15

Children aged 6 to 10 are invited to register for the First Shift program to learn basic hockey skills.

The Frontenac Fury Girls' Hockey Association will once again host the popular First Shift learn-to-play program at the Frontenac Community Arena during the 2021-2022 season.

Operated by volunteer coaches with the Frontenac Fury, The First Shift is a unique opportunity designed to help kids fall in love with hockey before buying all the gear. This learn-to-play program focuses on having fun while learning basic skills. Participants are fitted head to toe with brand new hockey equipment from the Ottawa Senators. Participants also receive a minimum of six one hour a week of on-ice instruction.

Registration is only $229, and includes all equipment including skates. This program will help break down barriers for some families who might not otherwise be able to offer hockey to their children.

The program is open to girls and boys between ages 6 and 10 who have never played hockey before.

This is the fourth year of the program in Frontenac. Over the past three years, Frontenac Fury coaches and volunteers have introduced more than 170 children to hockey, many of whom went on to join the Frontenac Fury Association.

The First Shift will take place beginning on January 24, 2022. Details on a welcome night and equipment fitting/pick up will be shared soon.

To register, or for more details, visit The First Shift.

This is a great way to try out the game and be ready for house league play next year.
