Hockey begins October 5, 2020!
2020-09-26
Our return-to-play plan has been approved by the OWHA and we have formalized our partnership to use the Stone Mills Recreation Centre in Tamworth as our home arena.
The Frontenac Fury is pleased to report that our return-to-play plan has been approved by the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association (OWHA), and we have formalized our partnership agreement with the Township of Stone Mills to utilize the Stone Mills Recreation Centre in Tamworth as our home arena for the 2020-2021 season.
We will offer four house league divisions:
U8-U11 (Novice & Atom)
U13 (Peewee)
U 15 (Bantam)
U18 (Midget)
We have secured eight hours of ice for the Frontenac Fury in Tamworth and no longer need time in Westport. The first two to four weeks on the ice will be dedicated to development as per OWHA guidelines. Following that, we will offer three-on-three or four-on-four development and scrimmage sessions twice a week per division. Scheduled ice times will remain consistent for the duration of the season, and are as follows:
U8-U11 (Novice & Atom) Tuesdays, 6-7 p.m. & Saturdays 5-6 p.m.
U13 (Peewee) Thursdays 6-7 p.m. & Saturdays 6-7 p.m.
U15 (Bantam) Tuesdays 7-8 p.m. & Thursdays 7-8 p.m.
U18 (Midget) Mondays 7:30-8:30 p.m. & Thursdays 8-9 p.m.
We will be sharing more on the format and changes because of COVID-19 protocols in the coming days including some frequently asked questions to help you understand the changes to arena routines.
In the meantime, please ensure your player is registered using the OWHA’s RAMP platform at http://FrontenacGHA.rampregistrations.com or click the Registration link on our website. Registration is set at $500. Payment is by cash or cheque only. Three staggered payments ($166.67 due October 1, 2020, $166.67 due November 1, 2020 and $166.66 due December 1, 2020) are available.
We will be holding a drive-thru jersey return/payment drop off opportunity for families from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the park-and-ride lot at the corner of Highway 38 and Bellrock Road. This is an opportunity for you to return your jersey from last season and drop off cash or cheque payments for the coming season. Players are not officially registered until payment is received.
We are hoping to secure returning coaches and bench staff from last season but may need additional volunteers to serve as trainers, “den moms” and COVID-19 screeners at the arena as per return-to-play guidelines. These positions require you be rostered and complete a clean CPIC or offence declaration (if CPIC is recent). If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Fury President Tanya Thake at tanyathake@gmail.com
Thank you for your continued patience and support. We can’t wait to see players back at the rink!
