Registration process update

2020-06-15

Please read this important update on registration for 2020-2021 season

The Frontenac Fury Girls' Hockey Association continues to await updates from Hockey Canada and the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association (OWHA) on what the coming hockey season might look like given the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting emergency management orders and public health measures.

Although there are still many unknowns, we did open registration last month to help our volunteer executive continue planning for the fall season if and when we are able to do so. While payment was not required (we again are offering a staggered payment plan for families), we want families to register their intentions for the fall to help us plan and organize over the summer months.

Since then, we have been advised by OWHA that we are not to collect fees until such time as we are directed. This is in part because our registration fees may change depending on what the coming season looks like including the potential elimination of tournaments.

We have amended this information our website registration portal. If you have already registered and provided post-dated cheques, the treasurer will hold on to these until we are able to cash them. We will get in touch so that payment schedules continue to be staggered. If you paid by credit card, your registration fee will be returned.

Also, the OWHA is introducing a new province-wide registration portal that all hockey associations will be expected to use. We are working with the OWHA on this and will update with you with more information as we receive it. We hope that any changes to our registration process will be seamless.

In the meantime, we would ask that if your intent is to have a player resume hockey when we are able to do so, you visit our website and register so that we can continue our planning. We are waiving the late fee if you register after August 1, 2020 but ask that you do so as soon as you are able.

While we are all disappointed by delays and changes related to the pandemic, we know decisions are being made in the best interest of all players, families and bench staff. We will update you as soon as we have more information.

Please stay safe.
