Fury/Flyers supports Teddy Bear Campaign & Food Bank
2019-12-01
Frontenac hockey associations partner for holiday campaign that supports tiniest hospital patients and local families in need.
The Frontenac Fury and Frontenac Flyers are partnering to support the annual Kingston General Hospital Auxiliary Teddy Bear Campaign and the Southern Frontenac Community Services Food Bank.
Teams from both hockey associations will collect cash donations from players, families and the community to support the purchase of teddy bears. For $100, sponsors purchase a teddy bear. The cash proceeds support the purchase of patient care equipment for the pediatric program at Kingston Health Sciences Centre. This year’s proceeds will be used to purchase monitors for measuring carbon dioxide levels in a child’s breath, which ensures the care team can more quickly detect and adjust for breathing or ventilation problems. This is especially critical in children who may have been sedated or given pain medication.
At the end of the campaign, the teddy bears will be given to children in need of comfort during their hospital visit.
Fury/Frontenac players/families are asked to direct their cash donations for the Teddy Bear Campaign to their team managers. The deadline for donations is December 20.
Non-perishable food donations for the Southern Frontenac Community Services Food Bank may be dropped at the Frontenac Arena lobby.
